Shopping Local This Holiday Season

Last weekend, Kelsey of The MacLeans and I got a head start on our holiday shopping. There are so many reasons to shop local – to support the local economy, reduce your carbon footprint, build connections in your community, and find unique gifts. Our goal was to visit local shops and markets in the hopes of finding some great items while supporting local businesses!

Our first stop was T’s/Once Upon a Tea Leaf, which is a little tea shop in downtown Maple Ridge where you can try one of their 300 flavours of tea, shop unique gifts, and find the latest fashions. During this time of year, they rebrand to “Miracle on 224th Street” and turn their store into a winter wonderland. Last Saturday was their Christmas shopping event complete with refreshments, prizes and deals.

Our next stop was Coastal Collective + Co in Pitt Meadows. This collaborative store is a one stop shop featuring the best artisans from around BC. They carry items for him, her, kids and pets. I have even hosted a few workshops in this cute space!

Lastly, we went to A Collective Winter Market at SKY Hangar in Pitt Meadows. With over 50 vendors, a holiday lounge, giveaways, and a photo wall from Pretty Little Flower Wall, we got so caught up with shopping and taking pics in front of the photo wall that we forgot to take photos of the market itself LOL. I did however score a set of beautiful clay earrings from Tink Jewelry. You should definitely check out her designs!
