Oh Schitt! The Bebes Are One! Zoey & Colbie’s Schitt’s Creek Inspired First Birthday Cake Smash

Oh Schitt, you’re not seeing double! The bebes are one!

Being pregnant during a pandemic (and having babies during a pandemic) was not easy to say the least. But watching Schitt’s Creek during my pregnancy and my mat leave always made me smile! I noticed that every time the Schitt’s Creek theme song played, my twin girls Zoey and Colbie would turn around and look at the TV (click here watch the Instagram reel). It only made sense for me to plan a Schitt’s Creek themed cake smash and birthday party for the girls. Love that journey for them!

The beautiful balloon and acrylic signage backdrop was gifted to us by Little Balloon Company.

DeGregorio Designs made me this custom invitation that I printed out as a keepsake for the girls.

Cakes by Peddie made us the most incredible mini 4″ cakes inspired by one of David Rose’s sweaters! Instead of having candles, I decorated the cakes with a custom black glitter topper made by Glitter Paper Scissors.

Sweeter with a Cookie is my go to for decorated cookies because she is simply the best!

The girls’ outfits were inspired by David Rose, complete with custom made onesies by my friend Little Bee Custom Creations, tutus from Old Navy, Converse chucks, and custom birthday hats made by Cutest Little Party.

I was able to incorporate my hand lettering into the leather jackets with the help of Watermark Creative, who turned my lettering into these removable jacket decals.

Of course I had to make the girls some hand lettered milestone boards and a welcome sign as well!

The girls seemed more interested in their cake toppers than the actual cake themselves but with some help from mama they eventually dug right into their cakes.

I may have even dressed up as Moira Rose for a few photos with the girls at the end. It’s honestly a wonder the girls didn’t cry when they saw me LOL!
